Trivial Pursuit
A bit of destination trivia as the band heads to Boston.
Members under 50 (or 60) may not know ‘MTA’, a hit for The Kingston Trio in the early 60s.
Written as a (humorous) protest song in response to the raising of Boston’s subway fares the song tells the pitiful story of Charlie’s last (and lasting) ride on the subway (called the T in Boston)
Cities with large subway systems tend to name their electronic fare cards, Orca (Seattle), Clipper (San Francisco), Oyster (London) so on and so forth.
Bostonians chose the best name of all, the Charlie Card. You just have to love a city with a sense of humour like that.
