None Of Us Are DJs / Strathcona Harvest Festival

The forecast was fairly bleak and the sky was ominous at times but no one got wet.

The economy-sized version of The Carnival Band strolled the grounds to help brighten a grey afternoon.

Kudos to The Carnival Band Dancers, Debbie, Steph and Alexis for doing such a great job of entertaining the kids.

4th Annual Oakridge Block Party

The 4th Annual Oakridge Block Party, Sept. 12, was dampish this year.
Nevertheless the band played on and left well fed after the gig.

Frog Hollow Festival

On Thursday, Sept. 2 we had a ball and ate well at Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House’s healthy living festival in Clinton Park, Slocan and Grant Sts.

Ross pulled a few strings and had the air force do a fly-past at no extra charge.
According to him he also arranged for the moon to be out but I’m not sure he’s ‘that’ well connected.

Brian Jones could not have chosen a better event for his first gig.

Ross explains the subtle differences between a soprano sax and a zucchini to a rapt audience.

Rehearsal On The Seawall

LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY

Britannia C.C. is closed on stat holidays. This Monday, Sept. 6, the band will rehearse on the False Creek seawall, south side. Head on down to where all the city-owned, slightly used, unsold condos are.

Facing Science World head around the seawall to the left until you reach the fancy footbridge or bump into the band.

The plan is to go to the Cambie Pub after rehearsal.

Rehearsal starts at 7:00 pm (give or take)

Island Hopping Tour – Victoria

The Carnival Band played two gigs in Victoria on Saturday.

A big fan

The first gig, in Centennial Square, was fundraiser for the Canadian Red Cross

The second gig of the day was at Logan’s Pub. Since it didn’t start until after my bedtime there are no official pics. Anyone who took shots from Logan’s Pub is welcome to contribute them to the flickr pool.
