India Day 2010

India Day at the Vedic Hindu Cultural Society on Sunday afternoon went well.

Except for the two hours of speeches.
Tara and Simmah. One minute they’re deadly serious …

… and the next they’re just goofing’ off

100,000 Hits

The 3,550 one day spike was the day after Pride 2010

I never imagined that my flickr pool would ever have 100,000 views. The fact that it’s seen that much activity in 18 months is incredible.

99% of the photos in the pool are shots of The Carnival Band.

Here, in no particular order, are 5 of the most viewed images. Some shots don’t include carnies but they were all taken at Carnival Band gigs.

Hot!, Hot!, Hot!

It was hotter than a four dollar furnace on Sunday as the band marched through East Van to Strathcona Park to kick off Justice Rocks.

The Story Box Project

Storyeum is a great performance space, unless you’re a photographer.

It’s dark in there.

On August 6 Storyeum was temporarily transformed into an art gallery. The Carnival Band along with Pepe Danza and the Upbeats provided the music.

Illuminaries 2010

This could be the first time the Carnival Band has taken the show to a DTES alley.

This year Public Dreams brought Illuminaries to W2, the old/new Woodward’s site. The event included indoor and outdoor performances.
